About

San Francisco City Hall is the seat of government for the City and County of San Francisco and a destination historic landmark. Designed by Arthur Brown, Jr., this Beaux-Arts building originally opened in 1915 as a monument to the City Beautiful movement.

City Hall is available to rent for a wide variety of events, including weddings, galas, receptions, dinners and celebrations. The City Hall Events Office licenses all private rentals in the building. As part of the General Services Agency, our work is overseen by the Office of the City Administrator.

Civil marriage ceremonies in City Hall are managed by the Office of the County Clerk, and commercial film and photography is regulated by the San Francisco Film Commission.
